What is a wireless fence?
Wireless dog fences provide an alternative solution to an actual, physical fence. They create a safe-zone, with a 6’-13’ trigger zone width that allows your dog to run freely inside the perimeter, while keeping him from straying outside the guarded boundaries. They are easy to install and require no digging trenches to bury wires.
The system includes a controller, the base which is kept inside the home, and a special dog collar, that contains a receiver which receives the signal from the controller, and effectively communicates between each other. This 2-way communication uses the signals to track the real-time location of your dog at a distance you predetermine. This becomes your dog’s playground, which allows him to roam freely and safely within these boundaries.
Should your dog cross the boundary, the system will deliver an audible tone or pulsing correction to him, while alerting you at the same time. When he retreats back into the safe zone, the correction will stop.
What is a wired fence?
Wired fencing, also known as electric dog fences or underground fences, contains a wire that you bury into your own shape, creating a closed loop. This invisible fencing allows the dog to stay safely inside the guarded boundaries.
The system includes a transmitter, the base which is kept inside the home, and a special dog collar. With a trigger zone that is customizable by you, coupled with the intelligent electronics, helps train your dog to stay within the boundaries.
Should your dog reach the warning zone, the edge of the boundary, you will hear a warning tone that lasts as long as the dog stays within the warning zone. When the dog retreats back in to the safe zone, the tone will stop. If he crosses the boundary, the dog will receive a correction, which is preset by you depending on your dog’s temperament.
We offer two types of wireless dog fence systems and underground dog fencing systems. Find out which HavahartWireless system would be perfect for you.
Proper training of your dog is required to ensure the success of your wireless or wired dog fence systems. See our expert training guide for easy, step-by-step instructions, in our Resource Center, under Training Your Dog.
