Easy to Set & Release
Simply bait the trap and then pull back the Easy Set® lever to set it with a single hand. The trip plate's sensitivity targets the animal's specific size and weight, while a solid spring-loaded door ensures a quick and secure capture. To release, just stand to the rear of the cage and pull back the Easy Set® lever. It's that easy - no more destructive digging, and no more tipped trash cans!
Safe for You and the Animal
Inside the cage, smooth, rounded edges and a strudy door lock keep the animal safely inside, while a solid hand guard limits contact with the carrier. And a rigid carry handle makes it easy to carry even large animals at a safe distance.

This is a great product. It does what it says it will do and doesn't harm the animal at all. It's nice and light, easy to transport and simple to work. It's a perfect size for squirrels and baby skunks and baby groundhogs. The adult skunks and groundhogs don't seem to go near it. That works for us, we don't want to catch the adults. It has worked very well for us and I am sure you will love it too.

We have a neutered outdoor cat who sleeps and eats in our garage. Three times now we have found opossums sharing his food, and all three times this trap (baited with cat food) caught them within hours. I release them by a creek in the woods miles from here, and they are totally unharmed. Happy to be free, yes. The cat is too smart to enter the trap, so I wouldn't use it on strays. Maybe a different style of trap would work for that.

Thank you for taking the time to submit and online review for the Havahart® Easy Set® Small 2-Door Animal Trap (model 1062). We are so glad to hear that you are pleased with the product and appreciate your feedback.
I bought a smaller trap without the easy set option. It didn't catch squirrels, and didn't like the setting mechanism at all. This larger trap with easy set function worked well. I have trapped and relocated 12 squirrels in three weeks. My squirrel problem is rapidly being minimized.

SquirrelsSeptember 08, 2012
I just started using this two door trap for squirrels. It was very difficult to get the handle to stay in place to set the trap. Took about 25 tries. The instructions of what to use for bait for squirrels were different on the box and the instruction sheet. So far it has been user unfriendly. I hope I can catch a squirrel.

Thank you for submitting your online review of the Havahart® Medium 2-Door Easy Set® Trap (model 1062). We are sorry to hear that you have had difficulties setting the trap and that there was confusion regarding the type of bait to use. For squirrels we recommend any of the following baits; cereal, grain, nuts (especially peanuts), sunflower seeds, anise oil or almond extract (a few drops on bread), shelled corn, apples, peanut butter mixed with oatmeal or molasses or popcorn. While we have found these to work well, just like humans, each animal has different tastes, so it may take a few tries to find what bait will work best for the squirrels you are trying to catch.
Please keep in mind that your trap is covered under a one year warranty. If you continue to have problems setting the trap, please do not hesitate to contact our Consumer Relations Team at 1-855-5-HAVAHART (1-855-542-8242) for additional assistance.

Thank you for taking the time to submit an online review for the Havahart® Easy Set® Small 2-Door Animal Trap (model #1062). This size trap is recommended for rabbits, skunks and squirrels. Have you been able to determine what kind of animal is frequenting your trap? It is possible that a raccoon or opossum may be to blame and unfortunately this trap is a bit on the small size for these critters so they can reach in, steal the bait, and then back out.
With that being said, we do have some tips for you to try ... sometimes animals can get their tails stuck in the door giving them the ability to back out of the trap because the door lock did not fully engage. To prevent this, it is recommended to set your trap as a one door trap and place (or even tie) your bait at the far closed end of the trap. This will require the animal’s body to be completely enclosed inside the trap when it is set off. The second tip you can try is to place the bait (like peanut butter) inside of a small tube (pvc pipe) and hang it above the bait tray. This will force the animal to enter the trap fully and engage the trigger pan.
Hopefully these tips help you to nab that pesky critter! If you have questions or need assistance please do not hesitate to contact our Consumer Relations Team at the following:
