I ordered the plant watering systems for when we go on our Alaska cruise and I didn't want to arrange for a plant sitter.
So far I have done a pre-trial run of a couple of weeks on assorted plants in different rooms and have encountered no problems. The plants look healthy and not over or under watered. So far only one of the systems when unwrapped was broken. All the rest were fine. I would order from this vendor again though. They arrived promptly and were perfect for what we needed.

We tried this on the Pothos hanging in our bathroom below a skylight, and the results are far better than we expected! No only isn't there a problem with the plant getting too little or too much water, but our Pothos is growing much, much better in continuously moist soil, rather that the traditional soak-and-allow-the-surface-to-dry-out watering method.
We've never had much success with indoor plants. Using the traditional watering methods -- allowing the soil surface to dry to 1" below surface, then watering until water drains from the bottom -- our plants usually suffered from older leaves yellowing and occasional brown tips.
The Plant Sitter was one of the more expensive automatic watering systems, but since it had the best reviews, we tried it. The results were surprised us.
With the reservoir sitting on the surface of the soil, in the center of the 10" pot (this is a hanging plant), the reservoir is almost invisible. And the soil in this 10" pot stays quite moist all the time. It feels like...how you might imagine the soil in a tropical rain forest soil to feel.
And the pothos just loves it! For 3 weeks now, it has been growing wildly, pushing out new leaves everywhere, branches reaching upwards and trailing down. Not one yellow or brown-tip sine we switched to the Plant Sitter.
With the house at 65 F, in March, and the plant hanging 7 feet below a north-facing skylight, about 1/2 liter of water is used up every week. I just returned from 1 week vacation and the pothos is thriving like never before.
I worried that the soil might be too moist, so I tried reducing the flow by covering the top half-of the cone with duct tape (to limit evaporation), then inserting the cone only 1/2 way into the soil. This produced no perceptible change in either water use or plant growth. I might try adding more tape, or figuring out how to lower the height of the reservoir. On the other hand, the plant is thriving so I may just leave it as it.
The key: Follow the directions meticulously, submerging the cone for a few minutes then putting on the cap while submerged, to ensure that the cone is soaked and full to the cap. You can't allow any air gap in the cone. To be sure, water the soil well before inserting.
Another key is that the amount of water transferred to the soil varie with the height of the reservoir. When we will be gone for 2 weeks, to be sure there's always enough water I plan to double the size of the reservoir, and place it slightly below the soil surface to slow the flow.
I can't predict how this product will work with other species or in other light. But for this hanging pothos, it's perfect.

I bought several for my largest plants, which are ceiling height specimens. I found that my plants are thriving with them so well that I am using them all of the time, not just in my absence. Directions do not tell you that you must prime the tubing...I had to find out the hard way. Also, the height of the plant sitter is very important because it really needs to be high enough to work. If it sits too low it will not work at all. I was not able to make any work hanging them from the side of the pots, as illustrated. So, I bought copper wire and bent it in the shape of a squared off inverted U, putting the ends inside the pot, with it high enough to hold the plant sitter's reservoir top edge at least 4-5 inches above the pot's edge, and hung the plant sitter on the wire. Gravity must be required to make it work. I could not get it to work at all without it being above the pot. I sat one plant sitter inside one of my very large pots. One plant sitter did not work at all and was promptly replaced by the vendor when I called them. I was very pleased with their customer service. All in all, I really like these plant sitters. My plants never looked better!

I was having problems with a few of my plants that needed extra special attention to moisture levels but with the plant sitter they are now florishing and putting on flowers. Unlike the big bulbs you fill it doesn't take away from the plants appearance and stick out like a sore thumb either. I highly recommend this product. It's there when you can't be and does it's job.

This is the way I like to water plants,no problems with over or under watering

This is a great item. The amount of water it holds is enough for maybe 1 week of watering my indoor (4ft) Ficus at work. The big selling point for me was that the clear reservoir gives me an instant indication of whether I need to water or not.
My little tree was dying because I would go away for the weekend having forgotten to water it, and it's pretty hard to kill a Ficus like this one. Once I put it on this plant life support system it recovered extremely quickly, and is now actively growing again.
I also bought some extra plant sitter sensor/drippers. If I need to go away for an extended weekend or vacation I just use a few extra containers and spread the sensors between them so the plant has adequate water. It drinks from them all at roughly the same rate.

I decided to leave a review as the last person obviously never purchased this product and yet rated it low based on calling the company. It works very simply, by drawing water out of any container you decide to use, through a tiny hose that connects to the little ceramic spike that you put in the soil, and slowly keeps your plants watered while you are away. I was going on vacation for a week and bought them for my plants. I made sure they were working a full week before I left and they kept the soil nice and hydrated. When I came back from my trip my plants were healthy and looked better than when I watered them myself. Actually I continue to use them now, and just fill the water containers every two weeks or so, it makes it much easier than the daily/weekly schedule I used to have. I don't have to worry about forgetting anymore, my plants are happy! :)

This does just what it says it will. Just follow the instructions and it will keep plants watered for weeks. It delivers just the right amount of water and cannot overflow. It's best to open the package and unroll the tubes a few days before you use them the first time. We just use gallon jugs of water for the source.

The plant sitter literally saved all of my plants for me while I was on vacation for a week. Used with indoor and outdoor plants, and it worked as promised.

I bought this product and it is working nicely on small pots. For larger pots I have to use 2 or more cones. It would be perfect if we have the option to select the size of the cones to fit the size of the pots.
I would recommend it.
