Bend the flaps of the pointed end of the strips as shown. This will make it easier to insert the stake into the soil. Alternatively, you can hang the strips from the plant itself.
Peel off the clear plastic sheets on either side of the plastic strip, exposing the adhesive.
Place the strip into the soil at the base of the plant.
To dispose of used strips, wrap in newspaper and dispose in the trash.

All my African violets became infested this summer with an insect somewhat like a fruit fly and Sticky Stakes are catching them by the hundreds. I highly recommend this product for ease of use and effectiveness.
Gets the mold gnats March 14, 2010

This winter there has been a virtual plague of mold gnats in our house plants. The Sticky Stakes have been the only way I've found to control them. They really work.
The only problem is they catch so many gnats that I have to keep changing them. That's the kind of problem I can put up with.

This item works a little too well in fact. The little sticky traps are covered so I actually need to order more! They work well because you are able to push them as far down into the pot as you need to unlike other traps you would just hang in the general area. They seem to be helping control our gnat problem though I would recommend a pesticide to go along with them. The sticky paper helps cut down on the number of flying adults but eggs still exist in the pot that need to be taken care of as well.

These thing are great. They all but eliminated the gnat problem that developed on my orchids. It took about a week or two and those things were covered with gnats..... all dead!! Problem gone!!!

After we switched to all organic potting soil, fungus gnats and/or flying mites were trying to take over our house. Sticky stakes have all but eliminated them!

These little guys are great. Less mess than other brands I've tried. They are small and pre-cut. I put one in all my plants and within a week my white fly issue was gone without having to use any chemical spray that could harm my dog. Highly recommend!!!!

Purchased these to combat fungus gnats that appeared in big numbers after repotting plants. The little black gnats are pesty and seem to land in any open glasses of fruit juice etc. you might have. After reading an article recommending another brand for gnat control I decided to purchase these after researching info on the Amazon site. The concept is quite simple, has no pesticides to endanger pets and isn't obtrusive in your plant pots. It helps control but not eliminate the gnats. Additionally limit watering of plants and allow top two inches of soil to remain dry to put a dent into the gnat population. Although it doesn't seem like you get a lot with these pest strips they are worth having and I have already reordered.

They are small, as other reviewers have noted. However, they work great on fungus gnats, which is why we got them.
