  Done feeding rats November 11, 2011

I had been feeding the rats a fairly expensive diet of poison. I did this for several weeks and their appetite seemed to be insatiable. So I bought this trap. The very first night I put the bait in the trap and captured a rat. I removed the rat from the population and rebated the trap for the next rat. The next rat never came. I think this trap is fabulous.

Awesome! I bought the 1082 Easy Set version. The Easy Set is a VAST improvement over older types of Havahart traps; use is as simple as it gets! This 1082 trap catches the chipmunks that dig in my deck planters. Using unsalted peanuts and a handful of bird seed (sunflower), the trap started doing its job the first day. I also have a larger, older version that catches squirrels. I plan to replace the older version with another Easy Set, as both the set up, and more importantly the release, are a snap. I expect to also use the 1082 to trap any rats that may come into my attic this winter.
