The anti-squirrel technology of this squirrel proof bird feeder makes this one of the best on the market. Birds eat from 8 ports. Includes FREE 23” metal hook.
The Birdscapes® Squirrel-Be-Gone I® wild bird feeder features 8 U-shaped perches, 8 feeding ports and a 6 lb. seed capacity. The interior seed tower is surrounded by metalwork. The clear, shatter-proof plastic reservoir makes it easy to monitor seed levels.
How does this squirrel proof bird feeder work? Its feeding ports have sturdy metal perches that allow birds to feed comfortably, but when the squirrels perch on them, their weight causes the entire metal casing to slip down, completely blocking the feeding ports and their access to the seed.
Remember to clean your squirrel proof bird feeder once every two weeks with a mild soap and water solution.
The elegant, sturdy metal hook is perfect for hanging bird feeders, planters, or other containers or products.
The Perky-Pet® 23” Metal Hook holds feeders, planters, etc, up to 35 lbs. The garden green finish on this bird feeder hanger is rust resistant and will provide years of enjoyment for you and the wild birds that flock to the hanging feeders in your yard.
The sturdy, easy-to-use design will not harm your tree branches.

We bought this feeder for our lakehouse. We have had hours of enjoyment watching a variety of birds come to feed. We have also had fun watching our many squirrels come and hang off the tree and eat our bird seed. We have our feeder hanging from a plant hanger hook mounted to a tree trunk. The squirrels hang out from the side of the tree trunk and eat the seed without any problem. We enjoy watching all of our critters eat.

Okay, so I am a reformed skeptic! This feeder has provided me with more entertainment value than any backyard addition! Squirrels cannot get seed! And they fall like leaves after trying! My birds are eating - the fat squirrels are loosing weight! I t's been a week - and I really need to set up a web cam to watch the invasion attempts from the little rodents!

The squirrels in our yard have a party with this feeder. They just have to jump on it and start shaking - before you know it the feeder is empty of seed. I suggest you make this feeder adaptable to being mounted onto a pole, that way the feeder would be secure and the squirrels wouldn't be able to get the memento to get it shaking and spilling. For now, this feeder is in storage much to my disappointment.

Thank you for your online review, we value your feedback. As you have experienced protecting your birdfeeder from squirrels can be an endless battle for many backyard birdfeeders like yourself. Using a spring loaded feeders like the Birdscapes® Squirrel-Be-Gone I™ (model 350) is a great way to prevent squirrels from gaining access to the seed inside. We appreciate your suggestion to make pole mounting an option for this feeder. In the meantime to avoid these pests from accessing your feeder often times a more holistic approach is needed. Try hanging your feeder 10 feet from the nearest squirrel launching site and at least 5 feet off of the ground. We hope you found these tips helpful.
Regarding the hanging cord, this cord should not have worn down this quickly. Please contact our Consumer Relations Team at 1-855-PERKYPET (1-855-737-5973) and we are happy to assist you in resolving this problem.
This is a very attractive feeder and the birds love it, but the squirrels are able to empty in in a matter of hours. Also, the paint started to peel within a year of purchase.

There are few things you can do to keep your replacement feeder out of reach from squirrels. Hang your feeder on a pole that is 10 feet away from the nearest tree, fence or launching place making sure it is at least 5 feet above the ground. Also adding a squirrel baffle above and/or below your feeder is very effective in preventing squirrels from gaining access.
Your feeder is covered under a one year warranty. Please contact our Consumer Relations Team at 1-855-PERKYPET (1-855-737-5973).
This unit performed OK as a feeder. Squirrels when approaching it from top couldn't get any seeds (as advertised). However when they jump from the side on the feeder they often open the top lid with lateral force of the jump - regardless how tight we tried to secure the lid.
The most sad thing occurred when a squirrel has got inside and while crawling backwards, her finger/claw got stuck in the gap between clear plastic side walls. The clear seed compartment consists of 4 separate plastic walls connected with each other only at top and bottom having gaps along corners. When we tried to free the squirrel, the poor animal was so scared of us that she ran leaving her torn off finger stuck in the feeder...
I strongly believe that this feeder should not be sold until its design is improved.
The feeder was purchased in Home Depot store in Ontario, Canada.

I bought one of these feeders several years ago and loved it. Eventually the cable that holds the lid on broke, so I bought 2 more. I have had no luck so far keeping the lids on the 2 new ones. The cable that holds the lid on broke almost right away on one of them. I still try to use the other, but I have never been able to get the lid tight enough to stay shut. I push the button and pull the cable to tighten the lid, but it never sits securely and all it takes is a nudge (usually by squirrels) to knock the lid to the side. Then the squirrels just crawl inside the feeder and eat all the seeds.

Disappointed again! June 05, 2012

Paid $61 bucks for two feeders on sale through this web site and the squirrels are eating just as well as before with normal feeders. I've readjusted this over and over and it's as tight as it can be.. basically.. he's eating out of the feeder where the birds are eating. The weight is not moving the outside down enough to cover the very large holes and well.. not very happy after debating this purchase for a long time. They're hanging way out on a limb on the hooks that came so it's not easy to get on the feeder but squirrels are pretty smart. My husband has lost all faith in these feeders saying the only thing to outsmart a squirrel is inhumane! Wish I could find ONE feeder that actually worked! Not sure I dare purchase another one because they're way over priced and do not deliver the promise they claim to make!

Thank you for your review! We are sorry that squirrels have been able to access the seed in your feeder. From your description it sounds like there must be a quality issue with the spring mechanism of your feeder. This feeder is designed and tested against the weight of a squirrel and the ports are intended to completely close in order to block their access. Your experience has been shared with our product developers.
Above all else, we want you and the birds to be happy with our birdfeeders. We are happy to see you were able to work with our Consumer Relations Team in resolving this problem. If you have questions or need assistance please do not hesitate to contact us at 1-855-PERKYPET (1-855-737-5973).

Battling squirrels can be an everyday struggle for many back yard birdfeeders like yourself. Often times adding a more holistic approach can help in protecting your feeders from these unwanted seed bandits. Try hanging your feeder 10 feet away from the nearest launching spot as squirrels can jump approximately 8 feet vertically. They can also jump 4 feet high, so be sure to hang your feeder 5 feet off of the ground.

Much like the people from Texas, our Illinois squirrels know their way around "squirrel-proof" feeders. Not only did they move the lid sideways in a matter of minutes but they also managed to hang just right so they could scoop the seed out of the holes. Very disappointed for $50. Squirrels win again!

Thank you for reviewing the Birdscapes® Squirrel-Be-Gone I™ Feeder (model #350). Keeping squirrels from stealing bird seed is a constant battle for many backyard bird feeders. There are few additional things you can to keep the squirrels at bay. Providing squirrels with their own food source away from your feeders is one way. Feeder placement is another option. Place your feeder on a pole that is 10 feet away from the nearest tree, fence or launching place and 5 feet above the ground. I purchased your squirrel-proof birdfeeder. But someone forgot to tell the squirrels it was squirrel-proof. With-in 5 minutes of hanging it up, a squirrel was able to move the top cap over to the side and had access to the seed. I tried to secure the cap but it wouldn't get any tighter. Maybe a redesign for a more secure cap would help. Or these Texas Squirrels are smarter than we think.
