I have had two of these and am getting ready to order two more. Initially, the squirrels loved my wild birdseed until they experienced the CAYENE PEPPER! Mixing Cayene pepper with your seed IS the key! They stuff their mouths full of food and THEN it hits them. They can't move fast enough to the birdbath going for the water, which only makes it worse. They soon learn their lessons! I love these feeders! They hold the most food ever and do not die like others! I keep them out year-round and I live in North Carolina. Thank you!

If you have a feeder that hangs higher than you can reach the hook, this feeder is perfect. You just grab the bottom of the feeder and turn it to refill. I love it. I don't have to climb on a deck chair to take it down to unhook it like I do for other feeders.

This feeded will allow the squirrels to eat right along with birds but the squirrels can not get to the feeder and destroy it. Best feeder I have found in a long time. Everybody enjoys it.

I think this is a great feeder. I have had mine for three years. what I need now is a replacement plastic seed holder as the current one is cracking from sun damage. I don't like to waste things and would hate for the thing to be thrown away.

Squirrels easily reach through the cage to the seed ports. They take over this feeder within hours of putting it up. Very, very disappointing and a waste of money.

Although it looks like it is squirrel proof, it's not. All the squirrel has to do is hang on the outside metal cage and stick his paws through the holes and eat all the food. I am very disappointed.

Your feedback on the Perky-Pet® Squirrel Resistant Easy Feeder (model B102) is appreciated. Battling squirrels can be a never ending battle for many back yard birdfeeders. In most cases a caged feeder like the Easy Feeder is best for minimizing the damage a squirrel can do to feeders. There are a few things you can do to prevent squirrels from accessing your feeder. Squirrels can jump up to 8 feet horizontally try hanging or pole mounting your feeder at least 10 feet away from the nearest tree, fence or launching area . Squirrels are also able to jump 4 feet vertically so you will want to make sure your feeder is 5-8 feet off of the ground. Adding a squirrel baffle is also an effective deterrent. Baffles can prevent the squirrels from stretching down from a tree branch and stealing food.

I purchased this feeder because it would be easy to clean and looked well constructed. I first tried using this with a "no waste" seed mixture. It replaced a large feeder I had used for years. It was hung near two other feeders, one with thistle and the other with hulled sunflower seeds. The birds barely gave it a look. So I dumped the "no waste" back into my old feeder and replaced it with hulled sunflower seed. Again nothing but my old feeder with "no waste" was doing great business. One last try, since my thistle feeder is an upside-down feeder, I decided to try hulled sunflower seeds in the bottom of my Perky-Pet B-102 and thistle seed in the top half. Surly this would draw some attention. Wrong! The birds seem to have difficulty getting to the seeds. I rotated the cage seeking to line the feeding ports with the holes in the cage but that did not help. I'm still using my three original feeders along with the B-102 but none of the birds give it a look. Perhaps if it was winter and this was my only feeder it might work but as far as I can see, this was a waste of money.

Thank you for sharing your experience with the Perky-Pet® Squirrel Resistant Easy Feeder (model 102). When setting up a new feeder it often takes time for birds to find it. Since you already have established feeders on your property you will want to remove them leaving only your Easy Feeder in place until the birds locate and start feeding from it.
