I had a birdfeeder with a grid on it for years and it finally bit the dust. I couldn't find the same model, but when I saw this one I thought it looked much better; with the crossing slanted grid instead of the boxed grid my old one had. It works great - the little birds just swoop right in but the noisy blue birds are out of luck.

I love this bird feeder because it lives up to the reviews I read on it before purchasing; it truly does keep the squirrels out and only small bird can enter to feed. The bottom tray keeps the seeds from spilling. It's well constructed, too. The reason I didn't give it a 5 star rating is because it only has 4 perches, not 6.

This feeder took a few days for the birds to venture inside of the squirrel-proof barrier, but now they are used to it & it's fun to watch them enjoying the seeds without the squirrels upstaging them. At least so far!

We got this feeder 2 weeks ago to replace an older one that was being raided by a very persistent squirrel. It seemed well built, was easy to fill, and looked better than most squirrel-proof feeders.
But after a week, no birds were using this feeder, and I began to feel like I had wasted my money. Then one male Goldfinch figured it out. The next day, his mate was feeding. After a few more days, four pairs of Goldfinches and several other birds were using the feeder. As far as we can tell, the squirrels haven't gotten into it yet.
Just be patient, and the birds will figure it out.

Hello, I have had this feeder now for a little over 3 weeks now and have not had a bird feed from this feeder at all, I know it said to be patient but this is ridiculous... the first week a finch was on it looking but never went in through the screen and has never returned. Not to happy with this product...

Dear Catherine,
Thank you for submitting a review for the Birdscapes® The Preserve™ Feeder (model 735). Birds are creatures of habit. It can take several weeks for them to take to a new feeder. For an enthusiastic feeder these few weeks can certainly feel like an eternity!
Try these tips to help attract birds to your new feeder: Temporarily take down any established feeders on your property. This will help them to find their new feeder. Once you notice birds feeding from your new feeders, replace the established ones. If this is your first feeder try placing a shiny pan (like a pie pan) on the ground beneath your feeder to attract hungry birds.
We hope you find these tips helpful! If you have questions or need assistance please do not hesitate to contact us at 1-855-PERKYPET (1-855-737-5973).
