I can not believe it, but it actually works! I have a terrible squirrel problem with my other feeders. Approx 10-12 squirrels come to my back yard. This feeder has them so frustrated, i love it!!! they chew at it, but because it is metal, they cannot get to the food. The have learned to keep their weight on the shepards pole that it is hanging from (it is weight that makes the doors close), but I put crisco on the pole, and they slide right off. It is very entertaining! I am buying alot less bird seed now that the squirrels are foiled!

Although the feeder needed to be somewhat reassembled it was not a big deal, I would assume this was for shipping purposes. It would have been helpful to have a few more instructions. I get quite laugh as I watch the squirrels try to figure out how to get into this feeder. The birds seem to like it just fine. We have saved a lot of $$ on sunflower seed and the mess under the feeders. I loved it so much I ordered 3.
Not working well for the smaller birdsApril 03, 2014
I notice that the smaller birds have difficulty getting there beeks into the seed basin they then migrate over to a tube feeder i have and that seed goes quickly, a little disappointed. Anyone else notice this? any tips?

Thank you for sharing your feedback regarding this squirrel resistant feeder. We are sorry to hear that the smaller birds seem to be having difficulty feeding while at the perches. This feeder should be able to accommodate a variety of small and medium sized birds.
Since birds are creatures of habit, they may take some time to get used to eating at a particular feeder. If there is an established feeder nearby that they prefer going to, they may use that one over a newer feeder. You could try temporarily removing the established feeder to help encourage the birds to try out the newer one.
We hope you found this information to be helpful. If you have questions or need additional assistance, please do not hesitate to contact our Consumer Relations Team at 1-855-PERKYPET (1-855-737-5973).
It really does keep the squirrels at bay which is quite an accomplishment . The birds don't seem as enthralled with this feeder however , that is why the 4 star instead of 5 star rating. Overall, I would recommend this feeder.

This lasted two summers until the squirrels figured out that gnawing the plastic seed catcher on the bottom would cause all the seeds to fall out. The good part about this is that it kept the squirrels intrigued long enough for me to be able to shoot them. This definitely prevented repetition, one squirrel at a time.
