Turn your yard into a bird feeding oasis with this Perky-Pet Squirrel-Be-Gone III Wild Bird Feeder. It attracts everything from cardinals, finches, flickers, and grackles to grosbeaks, jays, juncos, and kinglets--even sparrows, wrens, and woodpeckers. Best of all, this wild bird feeder provides an optimal feeding station for birds--without catering to those sneaky squirrels.
A charming addition to any outdoor space, this beautiful feeder features three durable plastic seed chambers, attractive metal caging with a powder-coated rustic brown finish, and ornamental leaves that are more than just decorative.
This feeder's innovative weight-activated exterior cage wraps protectively around the seed compartments. When a squirrel climbs onto the cage, the spring-loaded exterior cage drops down, throwing the squirrel off balance and lowering the ornamental leaves on the cage down into position where they effectively act as a barrier, covering the seed ports and preventing squirrels from pillaging the seed supply. Easy-to-access settings allow for adjusting the cage's spring tension as necessary.
This feeder's nine seed ports nicely dispense bird seed, while its bird-preferred, U-shaped metal perches allow birds to comfortably perch and feed. The bird's weight won't lower the cage, but when a squirrel climbs on, down it goes.

Easy to Fill and Use
This innovative Squirrel-Be-Gone III wild bird feeder comes fully assembled and makes a lovely addition to any personal collection or a thoughtful gift idea. This feeder holds up to 8 pounds of black oil sunflower seed, peanuts, or mixed seed. Use the same seed in all three chambers or add a different kind to each chamber to attract an even greater variety of birds. After filling the bird feeder, simply hang it in the yard, and watch as your feathered friends swoop in to celebrate.
This wild bird feeder comes with a wire loop for hanging near a back deck, porch, patio, or a window overlooking a garden or landscaped area in your yard. Choose a location that not only provides a great view, but that is also bird friendly. Birds prefer an open space, so they can easily move from one feeding port to the next. They also like to be in a location that gets both sun and partial shade during the day. An ideal location will be between 5 and 8 feet off the ground and within 15 feet of nearby coverage, like bushes and shrubs, so birds feel safe and protected from predators.
Cleaning the Feeder
The clear, plastic seed compartments make it easy to monitor seed levels at a glance. Be sure to keep this bird feeder clean and filled with fresh seed to ensure happy birds and return visits. Perky-Pet recommends checking this bird feeder once a week for insects or mold and cleaning it every few weeks with a mild soap and water solution.

We live in the woods. I bought this feeder 8 years ago from a local hardware store. It was on the clearance, so I figured I nothing to lose. It worked, kept the squirrels away. The open holes stayed open for the birds. If the squirrel got on it, the holes are covered by the metal décor and the squirrels got no seed. We've had a bear pull it down about 3 times, we clean it up and put it back up. It does look quite bruised and beat up, but still worked. This week, I saw a squirrel hanging on it. I suppose it finally broke. It does have three dividers, but we just feed our birds sunflower seed, so I never paid attention to whether those work or not. We use all the same food in each container section. I'm definitely going to order another one, because 8 years for any bird feeder is a fair amount of time to expect with bears, winters, floods and the heat from the sun.
Amazon ReviewMay 25, 2014
I owned one of these before and really liked it. I was most pleased to find one on Amazon. It is very effective for keeping squirrels out of the bird food. Birds flock to the feeder - it has sturdy perches, plenty of stations, is easy to refill, and holds large amounts of seeds. This feeder is strong enough to face both Texas summers and winters. The larger version costs a little more, but is definitely worth the cost.
