Great feeder, hummers love it! My third feeder, two of which are perky pet brand. Only one tip: when you turn it rightside up (it's a bottom fill), DO NOT SHAKE IT until you don't see bubles coming up anymore. It will leak where the bottom plastic part and the top metal flower part meet. If you don't shake it and just leave it be, it wont leak. Great feeder!

I really like the classy design of this feeder. The glass keeps the nectar fresher longer than plastic does. It seems to attract the larger hummingbirds.
Pros: Nice antique design, glass bottle, easy disassembly Cons: Small bottle opening requires small bottle brush for cleaning.

I too am disappointed in this "red" glass bottle feeder. I just purchased it on 9/7/12 and the first time washing it, the red paint is peeling off of the glass. If I had known it wasn't really a red glass bottle, I wouldn't have purchased it. Poor quality.

I loved everything about this feeder until the red started peeling off the clear glass bottle. I thought I was buying a red bottle . . . disappointed with the look. It appears to be wrapped in a red celephane. Also waiting for the hummingbirds to find it again now that it is no longer red!

hummingbird feeder May 23, 2012

My wife bought this beautiful hummingbird feeder for my birthday. I was excited to put it out!But when I did I noticed very few birds. I waited for a month and a bit but there were very few birds so I bought a super cheap plastic one thats not very attractive, and within a day I noticed an extreme amount of activity around the feeder. So I don't know what is wrong with yours? Very dissapointed. Could it be that the 'ports' are to small maybe?

Hummingbirds are amazing creatures to watch but by nature they are extremely untrusting, territorial and picky. Due to these personality traits sometimes the hummers will shy away from one feeder for no particularly obvious reason. A dominant male can overpower a single feeder defending his food supply. In this case a feeder that has large plastic flowers disguising each feeding port may block the dominant hummingbird's view of other birds.
Another solution is to place several feeders in different parts of your yard to give each hummingbird that visits your yard several options of where to dine. Sometimes hummingbirds do not act territorial at all. In this case consider yourself lucky and know that your hummingbird friends have been taught well. In some instances there can be as many as 10 or more hummingbirds feeding from a single feeder at the same time! It would appear the less expensive feeder you found suits the personalities of the hummers that visit your yard.

I am very disappointed in this product. Paint is peeling from the top of the neck of the bottle and the from florets the birds feed from. Inside the feeding container the finish is coming off around the rim and possibly contaminating the nectar. I would not recommend this product.

I purchased two of these feeders. I've washed them every few days and kept fresh nectar in them. I've had problems with black mold getting into them and the red color is peeling off of them. I would not recommend this feeder.

Often times mold can grow in feeders if they are placed in a sunny area. We recommend placing the feeders in a shaded area, as hummingbirds prefer to feed out of the sun and it can prevent mold from growing too quickly.
