Strange happens...not know if happen to you. I notice that liquid level in bottle keep change. Look like in the morning, the level rise then later in evening, it go lower. I thought it is almost out but next morning look like someone fill it up but I did not do it. I wonder if the weather affect it.

Dear Laura,
Thank you for sharing your observation. It is possible for the nectar to expand inside the feeder bottle and appear more full when cold morning temperatures rise throughout the day into evening. Your feedback is appreciated. We appreciate the time you have taken to submit an online review. It is beautiful. I ordered 1, once it arrived I ordered 2 more. I gave them as gifts, and the recipients loved them. It is the perfect size. I have learned it is best to not have a oversized feeder since the sugar water can go bad and harm the hummingbirds.

This is the first hummingbird feeder that I have purchased that doesn't drip and attract hundreds of ants and wasps. It has a metal top over the nectar basin and is very attractive hanging in the garden. I would definitely buy another one or give it as a gift.

My Mother got this feeder for my birthday. I have wanted one for a long time but could never find one that was just right. This is Glass with metal and no cheap looking plastic pieces. As soon as we put it out the hummingbirds were immediatly attracted to it. They love to come over and check us out and see what were up to while getting a little drink.

I bought three of these late last fall, but only started using two this spring. Now, in mid-July, the young have fledged and all three are hanging and are constantly in use! They're so much nicer than my old plastic feeders, and without yellow feedports, they don't attract wasps and hornets. They're easy to clean, and the birds can rest on the edge while they feed. Although the hanger and bottom are metal, and we're in a humid climate, there's no sign of rust. Maybe tie a piece of orange/red surveyor's tape on the neck when first hanging, since there's no bright red on the feeder. Once birds discover the feeder, remove it.

We have had this feeder up now for about 2 months. We are very happy with this hummingbird feeder. It is simple to fill. Holds a good amount. Is very pretty hanging up.
The construction appears to be very solid. Especially nice is the way the bottle screws into the tray. Only 3 pieces. We think it will last a long time.
We could not be more pleased.

The "beige a flor" or Hummingbird is not the only colorful sugar swallowing little peckerhead you will see when you watch the visitors to this lovely well made feeder. I get yellow bellied sap suckers and other occasional small long beaked nectar swallowers. This feeder is easier to keep clean than plastic models that get a black mildew on them. Health and a clean feeder are important to the fragile little flyers. This is a good all around pick for decent volume, ease of cleaning, and an attractive appearance. Oh yeah, and you can't beat the price even in a plastic model. I bought it as a gift for my mother who has an antique bottle collection. She loves it. The hummingbirds in New Mexico are more colorful than the ones here in South America but worldwide they all like a place to rest a moment and have a nice drink.
Love the look of this feeder...does the metal get hot? March 06, 2012
Reviewer: NatureGirl
I love the look of this feeder. I have many of the glass w/red plastic base and would love to get one of these...but I'm worried that the metal base of it will get too hot in ths summer for the Hummingbird to sit on while feeding. I don't think the thin plastic perches will retain the heat like this beautiful metal base will...what do you think?

Thank you for your online review! This is a great question! The heat on your metal feeder should not affect or harm the birds feeding on the perches. However it is recommended to keep your feeder away from direct sun when possible. When your feeder is exposed to extreme heat your nectar will be more susceptible to mold. For the health of your hummers you will want to change the nectar and clean out your feeder more frequently. We hope have found these tips to be helpful. This antique reproduction hummingbird feeder is for those with an appreciation for the finer things in life, on a budget. The delicate green bottle has an authentic vintage look and is made of recycled glass, not plastic. A more modern feature, its flower-shaped feeding ports are fitted with insect baffles to keep out bees and wasps. Remember that it is made of glass, so don't hang it where the wind can blow it against something and break it. At this price, why not buy two so you'll have a spare just in case? Well worth the investment.
Plastic base? December 09, 2012
Reviewer: dc
I ordered one of these after reading the specs and reviews that state that it is only glass and metal. The one that I received has a glass bottle and metal perch but a plastic base. Did I receive the wrong one? Can the metal base be purchased somewhere? (I searched through Parts and saw nothing.) I bought this to avoid the mildew that comes with the plastic feeders and am quite disappointed that the one I got is plastic.

Thank you for your online review! To clarify, the top of the base for the Perky-Pet® Antique Bottle Hummingbird Feeder (model 8108-2) is metal, however the bottom is made of plastic. We apologize for any confusion. They are manufactured this way to help prolong the life of the feeder by preventing rust.

I know these are basic, just fill it and hang it. So after reading the attached tag and not finding any directions, I looked at the obvious options. the top appeared to be removable and made the most sense, but after twisting it and trying to remove the hanger wires around the top unsuccessfully, I decided to check the bottom before I broke the top that may not be removable. The bottom easily screwed off in two pieces. So I mixed the nectar 10 oz, and filled the bottle from the bottom. As it was filling, the nectar was leaking out of the top. I quickly finished filling and put the bottom on and uprighted the bottle to stop the top from leaking. Is this suposed to be filled from the top or the bottom? Is the top suposed to be removable, or is it suposed to be sealed? I don't know because there was no direction. I came to the web site and so far no directions. Suggestion...don't waste space on the tag duplicating information in a second language, use that space to be thorough about the product..."Fill from top"...or..."Fill from bottom". Which is it?
