I have been feeding hummingbirds for at least ten years and have used other feeders. This one is the longest lasting and easiest by far to use. The hummers seem to like it best also!

We have 6 hanging outside all summer. The birds like this feeder better than other brands we have tried. We found that removing the screw that holds the perch on improves the feeder survival rate during a bear encounter; the perch pops off without breaking the perch or the base.
The only improvement I would make would be to have the base easier to clean like the oasis model feeder.

Have 15 running feeders, squirrels and raccoons have ruined about everything but jars. Flowers gone, little holes enlarged x5 by squirrels chewing, rails broken by coons, even red wire hangers broken. Hummers still coming though. Using 25 lbs sugar weekly. Used to buy parts, please provide them again for your loyal customers.

I ordered the 220 48zo feeder. I received and the design has a flaw/defect. I contacted customer support which were very helpful and sent me a replacement right away. I received the new one and again it leaked around the bottoms seam. In the mean time went to Home Depot and purchased 209-6 30oz. feeder. Walla, it didnt' leak. Contacted customer support and told them the 2nd one leaked like the first one and asked if they would send out the 209-6 as a replacement. Within 7 days I had the new one which has been leak free. Thanks for going above and beyond and standing behind your product. A++ customer service

I just ordered an additional three of these hummingbird feeders. In the past I had used several other hummingbird feeders -- until I discovered this one. The GLASS bottle holds a lot, is easily cleaned, & is practically indestructible! (Mine has even survived a black bear "attack," though the plastic bottom was not as fortunate.) I would highly recommend it.

I purchased a hummingbird feeder several years ago and it got put in a garage cabinet. I recently "found" it and I wanted to hang it up with our other feeder. When I opened the box I discovered that the red cap that screws on the top of the feeder was missing. I sent an e-mail to customer service and within 2 days another cap was in the mail at no charge to me. With many corporations today customer service just doesn't exist. but Perky Pet has outstanding customer service even YEARS after the sale. Thank you!

I bought one of these back in 1984. I still have it! Mine has the yellow bee guards on it. This feeder lasts, sunlight, rough handling, etc. nothing ruins this wonder! It is so easy to fill, tie to a tree branch, and storing it for winter are all a breeze! I have bought fancy hand blown glass ones, ones from other manufacturers, but the Perky Pet feeder is by far the best!

I put up several feeders and have 5 of these. I love the size. I have a lot of hummers so with this one holding so much I don't have to fill them so often. I also like that there is nothing around the ports that makes it difficult to see the hummers when they land. LOVE 'EM!!!

I have this Hummingbird feeder#209. I bought it about ten yrs.ago,and it is still serving it's purpose. We are so happy to see so many Hummingbirds in the last week of May. Some migrate through,but a lot stay,and nest. I have two other different type of Perky Pet Feeders and the birds love them the best. They are the sturdiest ones I own and will buy more in the future. Don't stop making these models. I live in the Central part of British Columbia, Canada

I've purchased several different varieties but never get the results as I do with this one. The hummers love it and the bees/wasps can't get in. Do have problems with ants but a little Vaseline on the ring at the top works great.

I bought this feeder for my mother on mother's day as a replacement for one that broke. She was thrilled with the new one, it's large size, and the construction as it was an improvement over her old one. She has always been happy with Perky Pet products as they are a great company and come through with parts when needed. You'll be fine buying a #209!

I love this feeder because it holds so much. Also you can easily remove the little perches so that other birds can't get at the nectar. Made from heavy glass so stays cleaner and lasts longer. Well designed.

21 years ago I purchased your model #209 Hummingbird feeder at the Royal Gourge gift shop in Colorado. It has served us well all these years here in Ohio. One season we had 23 Hummingbirds at our feeder, we had to buy another feeder just to feed them all. But sadly we had a bad storm tonight and the feeder was blown from its hanger and crashed to the ground breaking the base. I'm so glad to see that you still sell them so I will be able to replace it with another one. I trust I will get another 20+ years of service from the next one I purchase, weather permitting. I use Perky-Pet products exclusively for my Hummingbird and Oriole feeders. I keep an extra supply of glass bottles for the 209 and have nectar ready to go after washing out the perch/tray. I store the bottles with soda lids in the refridgerator and make 6-8 at a time. Here in Carpinteria I go through 39 quarts a week at peak season. Thank goodness for Costco and 50# bags of sugar!

This is exactly what i have been looking for... this feeder is not available in our local stores. Had one many years ago, and finally found another. The 209 Model is the best they make. Wide glass jar mouth for easy cleaning, landing perches. And great price. Much better that plastic ones that discolor and crack with sunlight. I bought three.

I have now purchased six #209's and while I have tried various other hummingbird feeders over the years, this #209 is absolutely the best and most preferred by the hummingbirds I've fed both in S. California and in Missouri.
The perches on each eventually broke and in the past I purchased replacement purchases, which makes sense. In today's world we should all try to keep things sustainable and replace "parts". The hummingbirds prefer to sit and eat, so I give in and buy new feeders, but it seems so wasteful. Please advise where perches could be purchased. Thank you!

Annually we have hummingbirds come to feed at our home in Colorado, but this year, with four of these new feeders we were absolutely overwhelmed! All four feeders had to be refilled daily due to the unbelievable number of hungry birds! They were awesome to watch - often one on every single station, with several others hovering awaiting their turn. We've used a number of different feeders over the years, but these are by far the best.

For many years Ihave used 12 of the 209 feeders. Tried several others, but these draw hundreds of hummingbirds each year.
One helpful hint, my husband discovered, the feeders are brought in to be sanitized and filled with fresh nectar. Each time we took the filled feeders back outside, there were always drips as we walked. Brillant husband this year suggested that I fill the 30 oz feeder, put a two liter soda lid on the feeder to carry them outside. Once outside, I take the soda lid off and put the feeder perch on before haning them. Brillant - no more dripping nectaur to clean up between the kitchen, garage, and deck.
I would suggest that bottle caps be provided with each feeder. Hummingbirds are at their peak 08-05-2010 in southern Indiana. My absolute favorite part of the summer!

I have to agree with the two other reviewers that I see on the web site, except to say that I actually wrote a note to ask about the perch and I was told that there was no replacement and that I would have to get the entire bottom assembly at a cost that almost equaled the cost of a new feeder. I haven't gotten a new one yet, and the one that I have, and have had for years has nothing left of the perch, so they have to fly for their food, but they do! I love that feeder, and although I would like to replace the perch and have even thought about manufacturing my own, (which I have not done, but am still thinking about), I also think that I may buy another to have a second feeder out on the porch. We have hummers all year, although fewer in the winter where we are in Southern California, and we very much enjoy watching the beautiful little critters.

I love these feeders, and the hummers do too. But after storage, the perch ring easily breaks. I would love to see a replacement ring offered. I am in dire need of two of them. The glass bottle is very durable and lasts forever. I would love to get your feedback.

I'm on my 3rd one of these feeders, love them...But the only thing is a little bump in the wrong way & the perch breaks. do you sell the replacement part, the wagon wheel that screws to the bottom of the feeder. I need 2 of them now, hopefully I won't need the 3rd one any time soon.

These feeders are THE BEST! We have two of this size plus an 8oz. and a 16oz. We start out small and end up using the two 30 oz. and fill them every 2-4 days depending.
There weren't as many hummers this year as in the past...don't know why...maybe because of the extra cool weather this spring and summer. Please don't ever discontinue Perky Pet feeders.

Bought this feeder based on the good reviews i read here and LOVE it. And that is mainly because the hummingbirds LOVE it! Lasts a long time till it needed refilling (yay for the high quality LARGE glass container) and love seeing the birds visiting regularly. We already had hummingbirds around each day, but now there seem to be a lot more, everywhere in our garden, not just at this feeder. The birds must be humming and the word is out. =)

We have had 8 of these for many years. They hold up well and with replacement parts they keep functioning for many years.
We keep at least 4 up all summer and switch out for the other 4 as needed to keep them all clean. We go through at least all four needing refills once a day and sometimes more. The birds love them.

We have 2 of these, along with two smaller of a diff style & have to fill all twice a day. It's a great feeder, our hummers love it.
We like that it has flat flowers, is glass, larger capacity, doesn't drip, and that it has the wrap around ring for them to sit on...the hummers can easily sit together and share a hole.
I wish it came in 48 ounce, none of the 48 ounce has the ring perch, only individual perches.

I've tried half a half dozen types of feeders and this type and style is hands down the best. It is also one of the largest on the market and is handy if you have lots of hummers. We have four this size and fill them every 3-4 days.

I have 4 of these feeders and they are wonderful. Easy to clean and fill. The birds seem to just love them. When all the stations are full they sit down next to another bird and wait or they swarm around until an empty spot comes open.
The only problem with this feeder for me, and it's not the feeders fault, is that it just doesn't hold enough. I fill four feeders EVERYDAY during the summer time. I may try the big "master" next time. I love my hummers...

I love to feed those little hummers, and this is the only feeder I will use. It has a large capacity so I don't have to fill it very often. I have four of these feeders on my deck. My hummers love them, and I love to watch them hang out near them. There are always 10 to 20 hummers either eating or buzzing around near the feeders.
I highly recommend this feeder to anyone who wants to feed hummers.

I noticed yellow jackets swarming around the base of this feeder feeding on nectar. During further evaluation I noticed there had to be a small leak around the middle of the base- ie. the equator. Seems to be at the spot where the two plastic halves are fused together at the factory. I believe I read someone else had this problem also. That is why you cannot take apart the base in half to clean it. It's one integral piece. But the base obviously does unscrew from the glass bottle to fill.
This feeder would be top notch if the company would redesign it where it would allow you to take the base apart in half to clean it. Just use a circular/round gasket in between to connect the two halves to prevent leaks and lock/snap it in place. It can be done. If we can put a man on the moon in outer space, million miles away, it's not as complicated as you think.
Anyway, I called Perky Pet customer service and spoke with Jaimie from Alabama she helped me out. The customer service is great. So good that I ordered another $150 dollars worth of stuff.

This is an outstanding feeder. It is solid, and holds an ample supply of nectar. It also provides a roost for the birds to sit on as they dine. The only drawback, in my opinion, is the size of the opening of the bottle. It is too small to get a bottle brush/washer through, which makes it a little difficult to wash the inside. Other than that, I have no complaints, and would not let this dissuade me from buying one. As a matter of fact, I have two, and plan to buy a couple more before they quit making it in this style.

This really IS the "classic"....the main problem I had with mine was that the little perches/bars around the bottom, got brittle and broke off...due to the heat of the sun. Otherwise, it's a great feeder! Holds LOTS of sweet water, and feeds lots of hummers! :-)

I have a number of humming bird feeders and this is one of the best. Its large capacity durable glass water bottle and well laid out feeding stations make it one of my best feeders.
I'd rate it a 5 but it is a little hard to clean and fill as the jar mouth is small. I use a funnel to fill it. But overall I'd buy another one when I need one as I haven't found a perfect feeder yet.

WE were so pleased with our selection of PERKY hummingbird feeders. We used over 65 #'s of sugar last season and drew hundreds of hummingbirds. This summer all the plastic parts warped and are useless. The glass bottle is the only part that holds up to southern summer sun.As of now would replace all but find most parts..Screw top, screw feeder parts just do not hold up to direct southern sun. Have been unable to use them any longer. Purchased all from LOWES last summer season. We have posted a HD photo of the feeders on U TUBE last summer as to how well the products work..& were so pleased. PLASTIC PARTS Just not made to last in summer southern sun.

I loved the large capacity as I did not have to refill every day as I do with my smaller feeders. Unfortunately, the base leaked. We tried using caulk to stop up the leak, but that did not work. Bases from smaller feeders did not appeal to the birds. It seemed to frighten them because the bottle was so much larger than the base.

This feeder was bought for me as a present,I have never seen such a goshdang fanagle mess that was presented to me as a hanger of this otherwise gorgeous feeder- to have to sit there & 1st make a knot inside the lid & then to have to bend the wire every which way(as glass is heavy fellows)plus it took me a while to figure out the wire inside the feeder bottle was my hanger - that I had to make. I was needless to say very very unsatisfied with this feeder - now I'll let ya know with a follow up if it stays up. If I wanted to build me a feeder, I'd buy me that kind - & God help any of the elderly who have problems with their hands. Just let me purchase, clean, fill & hang( with hanger included in the price) Thankya I done said my peace!!!!! Shame Shame Shame
