Made of a durable plastic, this water cooler will stand up to the Texas heat and dry winds, as well as the occasional rainstorm that rolls through here. The handle on the side makes it so easy to fill and carry. The plastic bird perch on the bottom twists on and off, but be careful not to flip it over until you get outside or you'll be wiping up water off the kitchen floor.

Retention of water in the holding bottle. July 13, 2012

Great idea, but!
After filling the holding bottle and screwing on the tray, I turned upside down as shown in the picture. In less than 1 minute the water flowed continuously. Am I missing something?
Please advise, so I can fix and the birds can enjoy. I would like to give a better review but until the water is retained in the holding bottle my like or dislike will be withheld.

Thank you for your online review. We are sorry to hear that you are experiencing leaking using the Perky-Pet® Water Cooler Bird Waterer (model 780). In most cases when leaking occurs it is because a vacuum seal has not been created inside of the bottle. To help create a vacuum seal you want to verify that you are filling your feeder completely and securing the base (or tray) on tightly.

Not one bird has used this since we got it....Perky Pet has always had some good products but lately, not so much
