A good dome protector for my Birdscapes long glass hummingbird feeder was needed so I thought I'd try this baffler. It is wider than the Hummzinger Humbrella and covers the long glass type feeders more than sufficiently from the rain, and it gives the hummers extra protection as well.

Since we don't have squirrels, there is no need to remove the plastic center of the cup (where the two hooks are placed) as stated in the instructions. If the center portion is removed, it causes the dome to tilt such that the squirrels lose their balance. With the center intact, the baffler is sturdy and helps prevent the feeder from rocking too much during windy days. We have hummers that winter here and this baffler is the answer to our long glass feeder needs.

Nothing outside of a battle tank is "squirrel proof", but this pivoting baffle keeps most squirrels off my feeders and lets me see the birds better. I use it on top of my feeders to stymie the "jumpers". When they land on it, it swivels down and they slide off while being kept away from the feeder by the size of the baffle. The birds seem to like that the baffle also keeps them and the feeder dry during rain.

I bought one of these in the spring, it worked fine but the two hooks got hit by a tennis ball and broke, so I bought two steel hooks and some nuts and made a good replacement but the metal swinging against the plastic made the inside circle split. I'm looking for another plastic circle, along with the two hooks. The hooks should have been made out of aluminum.

  Great Squirrel Baffle, But.... October 02, 2011

I have a couple of these and they work well. I'd rate it 5, but the hanging attachment that screws together doesn't stay connected. Screwed them together tightly, but they separated after swaying in the breeze. Maybe some glue on the threads would help. Unfortunately I can't find all the parts that fell down so I'll have to make my own to fix them.

Re-drilled holes to install hub. Baffle lifts in wind, then drops hard. Baffle is now cracked. It does however keep squirrels out. Baffle is used with a center mounted feeder.

  Poor product parts February 27, 2012

I don't know if the baffle will work to keep squirrels off the feeder or not as I just did hang the bird feeder with the baffle over the feeder. My complaint is that the hanger hooks that were supposed to screw together don't. There is no female thread for the male thread to fit into. I finally used a knotted cord strung through the baffle and hub to hang the baffle and feeder. I hope it works because the hooks were worthless!

  Very, Very Unhappy January 23, 2013

Purchased acrylic baffle, in hopes that I would be able to "outwit" our squirrels. Was following instructions to "pole-mount" the baffle, and noticed that all three (3) screws were going into their respective holes awfully hard. After a few turns of the screwdriver, the lower portion of each holes' plastic caused the bottom of the insert to crack. Noticed other reviews having the same problem. Maybe more R & D concerning the hole diameter on the insert should have been addressed before production. Needless to say, the entire product went back to the store where I had purchased it. Have had much success with other "Perky-Pet Brand" products (hummingbird feeders, to be specific). Very disappointed with this one. The one year warranty means nothing, if you can't even put the product together to enjoy it!!

I JUST purchaced this baffler from HD brought it home and started putting the screws in. Boy was I was shocked when the plastic blew out the bottom. Its goig back now now I see why this product had so many taped bags on the shelf.
