I have three pet chickens that are in an enclosed run in my very wooded yard. This July 3rd I woke up to find something had tried to dig into the run in several areas. July 5th I purchased this garden fence and haven't seen evidence of an attempt since! I have fox daily, racoon, porcupine, skunk, coyote, bobcat and I'm sure many other wild animals I don't want to know are out there! I did hear a loud yelp one night! :) I'm suprised at the zip 2 D cell batteries can dish out... especially when new. The batteries also work for quite a long time... the charging of the wire is intermittent and as the batteries get weaker the time between charging gets slower, but you can hear it and see a light flash every time it charges. I change mine about once a month just because I want the most ZAP! I will most likely upgrade to a wired system at some point but this system has been great and just what I needed!

I have used this fence for 2 seasons around a vegetable garden with a 100 foot perimeter in Massachusetts. I use it in combination with a barrier, like 6 foot plastic netting. Prior to putting up the fence, I had a woodchuck and opossums the first year and deer the second year. So far, nothing has gotten past the fence.

It's easy to set up and the batteries last most of the year if you keep wet grass away from the wires.

I bought extra wire and insulators so I could use it on standard fence poles.
