Safety Features

Run-Through Protection: When your dog runs towards the Fence Boundary, first a Warning Tone is emitted. If your dog continues towards the Boundary, the Collar will emit another Warning Tone accompanied by a low-level warning Static stimulus. At that point, if your dog keeps moving toward the Boundary, he will receive the full-level Static stimulus, which you have set. The Collar default setting is the lowest level stimulus.

Over Correction Protection: If your dog becomes “trapped” or “confused” in the Signal Field, this feature limits stimulation by stopping the Static stimulus after 10 seconds and will not issue another Static stimulus for 30 seconds. The Collar will automatically revert to normal operation after this 30-second window.

FAQs

FAQs About the Havahart® Fence Free Underground Dog Fence

Q: How does the Fence Free Containment System work?
A: The Fence Free System uses buried electric wire to discourage your dog from exiting the Fence Boundary. Through training, your dog will learn to recognize the Boundary visually (with the flags), through an audible Warning Tone, and a customizable corrective Static stimulus, transmitted through the Collar.

When your dog reaches the edge of the Fence Boundary, your dog will hear a Warning Tone that will last as long as he remains in the Warning Zone. If your dog moves back into the Roaming Area, the tone shuts off. If your dog continues toward the Fence Boundary, however, the initial low-level Static stimulus occurs. If your dog still continues toward the Boundary, the preset Static correction will be administered. You have the ability to set this level of correction to suit your dog’s temperament, age and size.

Q: Will the Fence Free System work for my dog?
A: It’s important to remember that every dog has a unique personality and responds differently to stimuli.

Since each dog is unique, there is no way to know how your dog will react to the System. This System was not designed for stubborn or aggressive dogs, and works best on dogs which have been trained to come when called. Positive reinforcement and a commitment to training are keys to the success of the System. For the safety and security of you and your dog, initial training should take place in a confined area where you have complete control over the situation.

Q: Is the Havahart® Fence Free System safe?
A: The Havahart® Fence Free System is safe and humane. To ensure the maximum protection and freedom for your dog, please observe the following safety precautions:

Q: How long will it take to train my dog?
A: Proper training of your dog is a crucial element to ensure the safe and successful operation of your Havahart® Fence Free Underground Dog Fence. Be sure to follow the Instruction Manual that comes with your system, completely. Don't skip any phase! This training helps your dog to understand his new boundaries so that he doesn't continuously try to cross them. You should plan on spending 10 to 15 minutes, 2 to 3 times a day, training your dog throughout the training phases, which will take approximately three weeks to complete.
