Havahart® introduces the Remote Trainer, the newest tool to correct your dog’s misbehaviors such as jumping on counters and furniture, nuisance barking, digging and chewing. The Remote Trainer can also be used to teach basic commands such as sit, stay and come. All at distances up to 100 yards. Think of this dog training kit as a very long leash!
The Havahart Remote Trainer uses state-of-the-art intelligent electronics to help train your dog to follow your directions/ commands. This is a proven technique used by many training professionals. It is a safe and highly effective method for both eliminating negative behavior and creating desired positive behavior. Additionally, the Remote Trainer is suited for both indoor and outdoor use.
Both the hand-held remote and collar receiver operate on disposable batteries. Both units use a power saving sleep mode to help conserve battery life, and have a Low Battery indicator light.
2-Dog Training
Unlike many remote trainer options, the Havahart Remote Trainer can operate two collars, training two dogs at the same time (with purchase of Remote Trainer Extra Collar). This is accomplished by toggling the Dog Selector switch on the hand held-control unit. Additionally, each collar can be set to its own static correction level, allowing you flexibility for the temperament of each dog.
With no dials to adjust, the hand-held remote provides an instant digital read-out that tells you which collar is in operation and the set correction level for that collar.
When you press the Correction button on the remote, a static stimulus is sent to the receiver collar, worn by your dog, and a correction is delivered via the collar receiver probes. If you wish to use tone only to control behavior, simply press the Warning button. Your dog will hear an audible tone instead of receiving stimulation and will begin to associate the tone to the misbehavior.
The transmitter has 5 levels of static correction and a warning tone button. The bad tone button allows the owner the option of using an audible tone without the use of stimulus to train the dog.
Training is Key
It is important to note that your commitment to training your dog will be the key factor in its success. Training sessions should be 10-15 minutes, 2-3 times per day, 5 days a week.
Only use the Remote Trainer if your dog is older than 6 months and weighs more than 8lbs. The receiver collar fits dogs with neck sizes up to 30”. If your dog has any health issues, please talk to your veterinarian before using the collar.
Safety Features
As a safety feature, the unit automatically shuts off and correction is stopped if a button is pressed and held for 10 seconds.
Watch How Easy It Is to Set and Train!
All Havahart® products have been thoroughly tested for safety and effectiveness. To protect your dog and yourself, please observe the following precautions:
Never leave the collar on your dog for more than 12 hours at one time. Pressure Necrosis is caused by extended pressure of the probes on the dog's skin, along with oil and direct that may accumulate on the probes. This can cause severe irritation of the dog's skin.
Check dogs daily for skin irritation and do not use the collar if the skin is irritated.
Only use the Havahart® Remote Trainer on healthy dogs, ages 6 months and older. Consult your veterinarian before using the collar if your dog has health problems.
Check collar fit each time you place collar on your dog – the collar must be fitted properly to work effectively. If the collar probes are not making complete contact with the dog's skin, the trainer will not work to its full effectiveness.
Always use the lowest stimulation possible to train your dog.

I got this because my husband wanted to work with our dog to stop barking and jumping up on people. He said it was easy to use and set up, and that it works well. You can give your dog a warning beep before it zaps her, and he said 95% of the time, all he needs is the warning beep for her to cease the bad behavior. We haven't had any issues with it not cooperating or working, haven't had any battery issues or anything else.
Thus far, we've been very pleased with this product.
Good so far - Amazon Review October 03, 2012

This Havahart collar has either a tone warning or a tone warning with a stimulus and it has 5 levels of intensity that you can set, so it seems like a decent collar, in that respect. The collar is nylon strapping with a plastic quick release style buckle. You need 2 different batteries, both of which are included in the package. Also included is a very small jeweler's screwdriver for use on the screw on the back of the controller, 2 sets of probes (long & short) for long or shorthaired dogs, and 2 sets of instructions, ie a small pamphlet and plasticized cards that you can carry with you.
This collar isn't meant to double as a leash collar, so it doesn't have a ring or anything to attach a leash. If you need/want to use a leash in conjunction with this collar, you'll need to use another collar meant for leashes.
If you buy this or any other similar unit, please read the instructions carefully. If you don't, you could cause a great deal of pain and/or discomfort for your pet and you might easily fail to train your pet with this device, if the unit isn't installed and working properly. Save yourself and your pet a lot of hassle and discomfort and take the time to understand how this thing works.
As I said, I got this unit because I didn't want to use the old electronic collar that I have, because I have a rescue dog that is quite timid. I wanted to be able to use a stimulus other than an electronic shock to try to train him. He doesn't respond to treats, like a normal dog, quite often not even eating them, which has frustrated my training regimen thus far.
My dog is 4 or 5 years old and weighs 120lbs and he's very smart, when he wants to learn. :) He doesn't seem to mind wearing the Havahart collar. So, far, I've only used the collar in the sound mode. Usually, it will startle him, thus breaking his attention on whatever he's doing. This is good for training him *not* to do something that I don't want him to do and it also lets him know that he's not doing what I want him to do. But, it is slow going. When he's really excited or frightened, he doesn't pay any attention to the sound coming from the collar.
I am going to stick with the sound training for as long as I can, unless I get to a point where there is no progress. Then, I'll use the combined sound and stimulus mode. I know that my old stimulus collar will produce results, so I assume that this one will do the same in stimulus mode. I just didn't want to start out with that and possibly do more harm than good, given the dog's timid nature.
I would have preferred that the collar have 3 modes, the sound, stimulus and vibration modes. I think that the sound and vibration would be better than just the sound alone.
I'm relatively happy with the unit as is, though. It's given me another way to get commands through to the dog and most importantly, I don't have to always have him leashed while training him. So, the collar has expanded my training efforts, which makes me happy.
A: When you press the appropriate button, a static stimulus and a tone are sent to the receiver collar and a correction is delivered via the collar probes. As a safety feature, the unit automatically shuts off if a button is pressed for 10 seconds.
The Remote Trainer offers you two training modes – Tone Only or Stimulus with Tone. There are 5 levels of static stimulus. If you wish to use Tone Only to control behavior, simply press the Warning button. Your dog will hear an audible tone instead of receiving stimulation and will begin to associate the tone to the misbehavior.
The Remote Trainer will correct the collar receiver up to 100 yards away.
In addition the hand held trainer can operate two collars at the same time. This is accomplished by toggling the Dog Selector switch on the hand held control unit between collars. The digital read out panel tells you which collar is in operation.
Q: Will the Remote Trainer work for my dog?
A: The Remote Trainer effectively and safely uses a static stimulus to help train your dog.
It’s important to remember that every dog has a unique personality and responds differently to stimuli. While there is no way to know how your dog will react to its introduction of the training collar, Havahart products have proven effective for use with dogs of virtually every size and every breed 6 months and older and weighing more than 8 lbs. For the safety and security of you and your dog, initial training should take place in a confined area where you have complete control over the situation.
Q: Is the Remote Trainer safe?
A: The Remote Trainer is safe and humane. To protect your dog and yourself, please observe the following precautions:
Never leave the collar on your dog for more than 12 hours at a time
Only use the Remote Trainer on healthy dogs, ages 6 months and older and weighing more than 8lbs. Consult your veterinarian before using the collar if your dog has health problems. Do not use on puppies.
Check collar fit each time you place collar on your dog– the collar must be fitted properly to work effectively.
Check dogs daily for skin irritation and do not use the collar if the skin is irritated
Always use the lowest stimulation possible to train your dog
Q: How long will it take to train my dog?
A: We recommend that you spend 10-15 minutes, 2-3 times a day for 4 to 6 weeks to gain the maximum benefit from the training system. Every dog learns at his/her own pace but in all cases consistency and repetition are the keys to long-term obedience.
