My wife and I have a 60 pound rescue puppy that is an English Bird Dog and Terrier mix. He loves to roam which has caused some problems. We purchased a Radial-Shape Havahart Wireless system for our yard and could not be happier. My wife trained him on the fence in about five days. We had a problem with the collar about five months after putting it into service. However, Jessica O at Woodstream handled everything right away. We rescued a year old Shepherd mix last winter. She had never lived in a house before and that was the least of our concerns. She knew no commands. I hated chaining her up & invested in the Havahart wireless fence. We trained her as recommended with the flags etc. There was an adjustment period, but now she's free to chase birds and get the exercise she needs with no worries from me. We have slowly expanded her roaming area as we have gotten more comfortable with its accuracy and now she roams our 2 acres of land. The best investment we could have made for her! I just finished setting up my new Radial Fence, so easy. We have two dogs and one is a runner and fast. We bought the fence with the highest hopes it would work for him. Thank you, it's great. He's off his leash now but still not trusted alone. I will be starting our other dog's training soon. I am worried (since he is almost blind) how hard training will be but I have faith. I am thinking of ordering one as a gift for a family member who lives in an apartment. The portability is perfect in this situation and I know it will work for him too. I absolutely love the Radial-Shape Havahart Wireless Dog Fence! I had mine set up in less than an hour, and that included the time I spent pacing out the distance I wanted to set the fence at. I have a Doberman and I trained him to my inground fence, but after replacing the box twice and having to dig up and repair the wire multiple times, I decided it was time for a change. This is the most user friendly device I have ever used, and it gives me complete freedom to let my dog run safely off leash away from the road and keep him from "visiting" the neighbors. I showed him his new boundaries with the fence after setting it up, and have had no trouble since. He is very aware of the boundary and respects the collar enough to stay put... no matter what. The controller is so small compared to other brands (and not such an eyesore) and the reciever on the collar is so small and lightweight compared to his old one, I know he has to appreciate the difference. I would buy this system again, a thousand times over and have recommended it to all my friends! The controller shows how far away the dog is from the base and the current battery level and an alarm sounds if the boundary is breached... what more could a dogowner ask for? Reviewer: Sandy We live in the country, so we have a very large yard, but we are also on a road where the cars travel 55 mph. Our last dog was killed in the road, so I knew we had to do something to keep our next dog safe. I chose the Radial-Shape Havahart Wireless Fence because we could allow Oliver a much larger radius to roam. At first, we put the controller in our garage so that the circle would be back farther from the road, but that didn't work so well. We have an older home with some kind of steel mesh in the walls and the house was blocking the signal to the front yard, creating unwanted corrections at times and not finding the collar at other times.
After we moved the base inside, it worked like a charm! I have found that we must start with a fully-charged battery each morning because Oliver left our yard one afternoon when he was on the second day of the battery. The base unit said low battery/replace, so I don't think he even received a correction that day. Ever since I started using a recharged battery each morning, he has never left the yard. We are having beautiful weather this time of year and it is so nice that he can be outside, with access to our garage and covered front porch with a bed! The Radial-Shape Havahart Wireless Fence System was simple to set up and install. With the flag system, training the dog is easy as long as the owner sticks with the routine as suggested in the manual. Since installing and training, Molly chases squirrels and rabbits but stays within the boundary. Over the holidays we took it to our family’s house and she knew when it beeped she had to turn around, so the portability is wonderful. She hears the tone and knows if she keeps moving what will happen. I think the concept is great. The product is fantastic. Being a landscaper, I have cut many underground wire dog fences, so the idea is magnificent.
