The Italian Greyhound is considered a SMALL dog based on the average height and weight.

 

Males – Height: 13 to 15 inches.

Weight: 7 to 14 pounds.

Italian Greyhounds are commonly black, blue, fawn, red, sable, seal, brindle, chocolate and white.

 

 

 

Temperament

Italian Greyhounds are a gentle, loving breed. They are sensitive and can be timid around strangers or loud people. They are devoted to their owners and enjoy being in their company. They have a sweet nature that is common among all greyhound breeds.

 

 

 

Activity Level

Italian Greyhounds are a high-energy breed, but their exercise requirements can be met with a gentle walk or some indoor games. They enjoy playing outside, although they do not like to go out when it is cold.

Known Breed-Related Health Issues

The most common health concern for Italian Greyhounds is periodontal disease. Epilepsy, leg fractures, patellar luxation and progressive retinal atrophy are less common but still occur within the breed. Their thin legs and tails are susceptible to fractures.

 

 

 

Ideal Climates for this Breed

Italian Greyhounds have a high tolerance for hot climates and a low tolerance for cold climates.
